There are no big changes in the ranking of exporters to NZ. The vast majority of imported cars is still coming from Japan. Japan has lost share compared to last year’s figures, they went from 93.7% to 91.7%.

Australia keeps the second place with 380 cars exported to New Zealand and have a share of 3.6%. The result was unexpected as there are new regulations regarding flood damaged vehicles needing to have their electronics and pyrotechnics replaced. AU may have been able to maintain its market share due to the replacement or repair of their statutory write off vehicles, making them compliant to the new law.

Great Britain holds onto the third place with 273 used vehicles exported to New Zealand and have a share of 2.6%. The market share and imported vehicles keep growing due to the devaluation of the pound caused by the Brexit vote.
