Car Shipping to New Zealand: August report

August 16 has registered an increase on the number of used imported passenger vehicles in New Zealand in comparison with previous months.

According to the Motor Vehicle stats, 14,054 vehicles entered the country in August – the second highest figure this year, right after April 16.

So far this year 103,118 units have been imported into New Zealand.

The top 3 source countries were:

  1. Japan. The number of Japanese cars imported in New Zealand has increased last month – total of 13,260 with a market share of 94.4%.
  2. Australia. Taking a second place once again, AU exported a total of 438 used cars to NZ in August.
  3. USA. With 125 cars exported to NZ and a market share of 0.9%, USA has been the third source country this last month.

Although the number of Great Britain imports has peaked in August when 94 units crossed the border, the year to date figures are still lower than in 2015.
